Camping 2010 #2

This weekend we had the opportunity to go camping up north near Biwabik with Joni and David. The campground was beautiful with tall pine trees and quite little lake.

A tour of the City of Biwabic wouldn't be complete without a pic in front of the moose!

Joni's rock collection

What a meal! The food always taste better outdoors.

Kara, Joni & David headed back home and I stayed behind because I have to work in Hibbing tomorrow. May as well do a little exploring.

Now I'm off to find a lookout tower. I found the GPS coordinates to the Birch Knob Lookout Tower. After driving around on forest service roads for about an hour I found were the tower USED to be!

But it still had a nice view.

Now it's time for one last hike to the top of Giants Ridge Ski Slope. That was a big climb. No wonder they use chair lifts in the winter!

OK. This is just to tempting!

It's not that high.

And the View is awesome!

Yes, I am blogging from the top of Giants Ridge. The wind is calm, the air is cool and I can't hear a sound except for birds chirping. What Great Day!!!!

Rodeo At State Fair Grounds

This morning while reading the Sunday paper I noticed a rodeo at the state fair grounds. We decided to go check it out and wouldn't you know it we found a little cowboy who wanted to come along!

Free wagon rides are a plus.

Learning how to trim BIG toe nails (sometimes called hooves)

You can't be a "Cowboy" without buying a cowboy hat!

Learning the proper "Cowboy leaning on the fence Technique"

This is my size of a horse!

A few cookies on the trail are a must!

A bucking bronco comes out of the chute.

This is what the "Mean Bull" looks like!

1 minute into the car ride home and this little Texan was dreaming of the next rodeo!

Sammy Office

This is my hard working office helper! With the nice weather lately she usually just wants to stay out side hunting, playing or just soaking up the sun. However, with todays cold temps and wind she has opted to do office work.

First Outdoor Walk Of The Season

We went into Chaska since it was such a nice day and we wanted to see the flooding along the Minnesota River

This is the town teams ball field that is completely under water.

The Highway 41 bridge is closed because the road just beyond the bridge is flooded.

This is a pump house just on the town side of the dike. There are several of these with stand by generators next to them. If there were a power outage without back up power the city would be in big trouble.

Kara's Health Fair

Philip is helping Kara get a couple of things ready for her upcoming health fair at Scott County. He is making a Operation game board.

Now Kara will take the board to Scott County and someone there will finish it up. Thanks for your help Philip!
