State Fair With Bob & Carolyn

Sunday Kara & I went to the State Fair with Bob and Carolyn. The weather was perfect and the food was delicious!

First stop was to check out the music at the Leinie Lodge.

Now that we worked up an appetite we pick up some Fajita flavored beef tips. HOT STUFF!

Nothing like a little ice cream to cool us off.

On to the DNR pond to check out all of the fish.

You guessed it, that calls for more ice cream!

Time to take a load off our feet.

And have a cold one!

How about a walleye sandwich.

And walleye on a stick to finish off another "Great Minnesota Get Together"!

UWRF Football Starts

Football is in the air

Today we had the opportunity to watch Philip's football team scrimmage.

Looking forward to a great season!

Drive-in Movie

This weekend the Cologne Fire Department had a fund raiser called the "Firehouse Drive In". Kara and I decided that might be a fun date with Jace. This is the big screen they set up.

They also had a bunch of fun things to do untill the movie started

Can't pass up a ride in the firetruck!

Mmmmm ice cream!
Playing football

Setting up on the hood of the car.
Jace thinks we should do this again next year!

Philips New Apartment

Philip started moving into his new apartment for his senior year at UWRF. It's a nice house that he will be sharing with a few other boys just a block off of campus.

Camping 2010 #2

This weekend we had the opportunity to go camping up north near Biwabik with Joni and David. The campground was beautiful with tall pine trees and quite little lake.

A tour of the City of Biwabic wouldn't be complete without a pic in front of the moose!

Joni's rock collection

What a meal! The food always taste better outdoors.

Kara, Joni & David headed back home and I stayed behind because I have to work in Hibbing tomorrow. May as well do a little exploring.

Now I'm off to find a lookout tower. I found the GPS coordinates to the Birch Knob Lookout Tower. After driving around on forest service roads for about an hour I found were the tower USED to be!

But it still had a nice view.

Now it's time for one last hike to the top of Giants Ridge Ski Slope. That was a big climb. No wonder they use chair lifts in the winter!

OK. This is just to tempting!

It's not that high.

And the View is awesome!

Yes, I am blogging from the top of Giants Ridge. The wind is calm, the air is cool and I can't hear a sound except for birds chirping. What Great Day!!!!
